Sacred poetry and the gift of your voice
June 5 @ 2:00 pm - June 9 @ 4:30 pm
A four-day event led by Ashley Ramsden
Your voice is your gift to the world. Come and find the confidence to slow down, take the space and embody what you have to say. The art of speaking poetry is a practice that can help you to honour who you are and what you hold sacred.
This is an invitation for you to bring the poetry you love to others. The word ‘Sacred’ means in its essence, wholeness, so whatever poetry you have at heart is what we will work with: ancient, modern, poetry you have written yourself, all are welcome. Our days together will be filled with exercises both playful and profound to bring out the wisdom and wilyness you and your poetry hold as a gift.
The Saturday evening will feature a performance of ‘Delicious Laughter’ ~ the poetry and stories of Rumi and Hafiz with Ashley and a guest musician.
“Poetry has an immediate effect on the mind. The simple act of reading poetry alters thought patterns and the shuttle of the breath. Poetry induces trance. Its words are chant. Its rhythms are drumbeats. Its images become the icons of the inner eye. Poetry is more than a description of the sacred experience; it carries the experience itself.” Ivan Granger
“Thank you, oh thank you for the most inspiring time… already being incorporated into every nook and cranny of my life.” Jennifer Leach. Festival Director
